Double pneumonia, and an allergic reaction so serious that I had to leave the Dr.'s office with an epipen, and keep one on me at all times.
My GQ six year-old has asthma. We knew that. He's been coughing for a few weeks, we assumed it was because of all the construction dust. Yesterday morning, he looked really worn down and was running a temp. I decided to keep him home and get him into the Dr. It's a good thing I did! I came home reeling and feeling like the world's worst mother for not seeing the danger signs earlier. I was greeted by a change in construction plans. It was my husband's day off, and did he ever have plans! Remember our toy room with the climbing wall, secret door, rope swing and tree fort? Gone. Along with my bedroom closet. So along with antibiotics, steroids, epipens and breathing treatments, I had this room:
My little sicky and his older brother moved to the family room downstairs, plastic sheeting went up to shield him from as much dust as possible, and the baby moved to our room. You can see his little bed in the corner. It was quite a day. I spent most of it frozen, wanting to just suck my thumb, curl up into a little ball, and rock. To my husband's credit, he worked like a machine, and the demo work was all finished, the room swept clean, and our room was put to rights before I came in for bed. It was amazing. Nevertheless, it was a very tough day.

Oh, ouch! Do you need some brownies?
That really stinks. It's so nice when the spousal units clean up when they makes disasters though. I bet that really helped out. Your poor little guy.
Yikes. My life is good! I don't know if I could stick myself with an epipen. That stinks. Poor baby. I'm so glad your husband cleans up after himself. Good thing your mommy lives close by.
Um, I could always use your brownies. I wouldn't want to torture you though! I know how you are about chocolate.
It doesn't seem like a lucky week for little ones, it seems.
If you look at Nicole's blog you can read about Joseph.
On Monday after Easter, we spent 6 hours, just of waiting, in the ER for Gabriel, when, in the end, he was diagnosed just with constipation.
I was glad it was just that, he had been waking up in pain for a couple nights (at first we thought it was teething or gas) but on Monday he sounded like he was in pain after a bowel movement.
We hadn't thought he could be so constipated since he has never skipped a bowel movement, he is always regular, almost at the same time every day.
And now prunes and apple juice are working wonders.
I feel so bad for the little guy. Call if you need anything, I'm always heading somewhere so maybe the least I can do is save you a trip. I hope all turns out well. :)
Oh I am so sorry. I hate stuff like this. I hope he is feeling better soon.
I happened onto your blog and felt an immediate bond since I have five boys. After reading some of your posts, I am thinking you have six? Maybe one on a mission? Mine are older ranging in age from 23 to 11. I love your blog! What a great writer! I will visit often!
