Curse You and Your Long Arms!

He wailed as I steamrolled across him on his bed. My twelve year-old son had the prize is his grasp, held as far away from me as possible. He's getting stronger every day, but not strong enough to hold on to the book we're both in the middle of reading. See, it's bedtime. And he needs his sleep. I did what any caring mother would do. Any loving mother would tackle her son, squish him to goo and pry the precious book from his desperate fingers. Then she would wade across the room with him clinging stubbornly to her ankles, and climb up the stairs on her hands and knees as the hem of her jeans rip. She would emerge at the top of the stairs, book held aloft with the wild glee of triumph in her eyes. It's for his own good, it is after all, bedtime. And it's a dang good book.

It's what any good mother would do. Bless you for putting yourself in harm's way for him.

That looks like a really weird book - is it THAT good? What is it about....I need intriguing stuff for my boy and he and I are picky readers.

You, my dear, are much like a super hero - willing to go to great lengths for the good of humanity.

You did the right thing. We mothers must do what we need to do!

That good huh? Sounds like I need to check out this book! Has "boy" written all over it.

No, I am not a creepy stalker! I just got back from my run and noticed I left this on and open the whole time...I wouldn't say anything except you have a sitemeter and I don't want you to think I have been stalking you for two hours or how ever long this has been on!!!! That happened to mine once and it totally freaked me out! Especially since I had NO idea who it was! WHO would want to lurk for THAT long? I think the same thing probably happened. ANYWHO...have a great day!

That's funny, Jodi! I do that all the time too. No worries. I've accidentally left my browser open with a couple of blogs on all night! I'll bet they were scared! :)

If he's anything like his dad, it won't be too long until his arms have extended far beyond yours. Count the precious moments when you still win these battles. (o:

THat's what I love about you, always willing to do the "right" thing no matter what it takes! I'd savor the victories while you can...that boy's getting bigger everyday!

Hey, how's the remodel coming????

And it's not just a "boy" book too!! I'd always kept away from sci-fi, but picked it up in college, a Child Lit class...someday I'll get my girls hooked as well!!

Is it a sci-fi book?

Seems interesting!!!

I am a very picky reader and I am getting even pickier in selecting books for my 8 months old :)
I have an hard time with dr Seuss, especially with my accent, so I tend to choose more standard books for his age. :)

I forgot to ask you last Sunday how is your little one doing?

It must be a good book. I'll have to read it. I hope things are going well for you guys. I love the Hey Jude entry. Talk to you soon.

I'm just glad that your pants were tight enough that they ripped instead of came off!

Its true that he will eventually be larger and stronger than you, but here is a tip from my older but smaller sister. Just maintain the fear and you will always win. She can still get her way even though I a half foot taller than her!

And I for one will leave your site up and running. That is until at least the music stops. Good choice in music.
Now on to books. Good for you to encourage bed time...no matter the cost. If you have not read "The Serpent Tide" by K.L. Fogg yet, I encourage you to do so. I don't care for the cover but the book was good. Happy reading
