Mommy Hell

This is actual footage from my cell phone at the grocery store today. Sorry for the poor quality, but it's had a bit of a journey to get to this blog. Here's a transcript: (screaming at the top of his lungs)

"AAAAAAAAAAH! I HATE YOU!!!!! I WANT THIS TO TIP OVER!"

At this point, I still thought it was funny. He's usually an angel whenever I take him anywhere, so I could appreciate a little spice. However, it got waaaaaaaaaaay worse. I've actually never had a fit like this in all my years of parenting rascally boys. I ended up having to haul him out of the cart, sit right down on the floor in the frozen food section and put him in time out. We sat there for what felt like an hour, with him shrieking about how he hated me, and how much I was hurting him. Nice. I think I've gone and lost my "Mother of the Year" award for this one.

We've all been there. You're still in the running for mother of the year.

My daughter is the only one of my five who's had a huge public tantrum, but just once. She melted down at the check stand while I was getting ready to pay. She told the lady in front of us that she had a big bottom :O, threw herself on the floor and screamed. I carried her out of the store while she screamed "poop" and "mean mama." She snatched my keys out of my hand and threw them in a mud puddle as we were walking back to the car.

If you didn't actually beat him with a handy frozen pizza, I think you're still up for that award. It is only January, you know. Plenty of time for all the other mothers to seriously mess up.

Ok-I cannot believe you have in all your years of parenting had this be your worst tantrum! I only have 3 boys and let me tell you we have had tantrums too many to count. So you are definitely in the running for mom of the year because it looks like I've got the worst one of the year in the bag!:) N

Should Mother of the Year never had dealt with one of these? I don't think so. Not in my books. I'd never trust a word she said. You are an amazing mother. And he is an amazing kid. Admirable tantrum, bud.

So how much did they pay you to leave?

Or worse - did the bakery lady offer him a cookie to, you know, help - which by the way did not help when I was in a similar (not so agitated) situation. I politely had to decline the cookie bribe for the child as I did not want to reward the behavior but I took one and ate it.

(I really didn't but I thought it would be funny if I had so I typed it.)

You're still MOTY.

I think every one of us who have endured this should get a Mother of the Year award. Mine was with Mazie, and she was so hysterical that she was trying to push my hands off the cart, so I couldn't push it around the store. This lady stood watching in the frozen food section, and I thought she'd say something condescending, but she came up to me, smiled and said, "Hang in there, Mom." Bless her!

How sweet! Did you have to tell anyone to mind their own business?

You are honorably awarded the Mother of the Year for bravery in sticking it out and not RUNNING for the nearest door or for grabbing him a little too tight to make a point, but most amazingly for having the composure to turn on your phone video!!!!
